The Rye Art Gallery Trust was founded in 1957 by artist Mary Stormont (1871 - 1962), who eloped to Rye with fellow artist Howard Stormont (1859 - 1935) in 1898. They married in St Mary`s Church, Rye, and lived in Ypres Studio, Ockman Lane.

We exhibit internationally collected artists alongside selected regional and local artists, some already established, some emerging.
We have original art for most budgets, with original work selling between £100 and £20,000. Our rolling exhibition is interspersed with a number of scheduled group and solo exhibitions throughout the year. The gallery space is light, roomy and informal and, like our website, all prices are displayed with the exhibits. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming and the music generally good, though we have been known to suffer a momentary lapse of reason. |
